Did you know that Hong Kong played a big part in the coolie trade? Chinese labourers, aka "coolies", were transported from Hong Kong to work on plantations, mines, and construction projects all over the world. And during the 19th century, the "triangular piers" in Hong Kong were crucial to this trade, with their unique shape allowing for multiple boats to dock at the same time.
Nowadays the “triangular piers” was long gone. What are left from this part of the old memory, are the Dried Seafood shops that have been around since last century. We’d get to learn the different exotic ingredients used in Chinese cooking and tonics. It's a fascinating glimpse into local food and health culture. Don't be shellfish, come and explore!

Aberdeen - the beginning of the “Harbour of Fragrance”
Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter has long been one of the refuges for fishing vessels in times of heavy seas. Apart from stormy weather, boats of various sizes also swarm here during Chinese New Year and traditional festivals, such as Tin Hau Festival. The annual dragon boat race is also held here during the Dragon Boat Festival in the 5th lunar month. From here, we will take a ride of the boat people’s typical sampan boat on the water way through the different yachts and ships.
