The Clan culture in the New Territories
Nestled at the foot of a mountain is one of Hong Kong’s best-preserved walled villages. Built in 1847, the enchanting compound was home to the Tsang clan, a Hakka family that had migrated to the area in the 17th century. Step inside, and you’ll be transported to a bygone era, with the original granite, bricks and timber still proudly on display. See the guard towers built to ward off pirates who once dominated the waters of Hong Kong. This is no mere relic but a living, breathing village, where visitors are welcome to wander the courtyard and marvel at the ancestral hall. Let us learn about the unique clan culture in the New Territories of Hong Kong.
